1Why did Bitaroo build a Vault?
Bitaroo created a Vault to address the risks associated with long-term custodial storage of users' bitcoin. Many exchanges have been found to only partially reserve funds due to hacks or unethical practices, raising concerns about the safety of users' assets. To ensure verifiable custodianship, Bitaroo uses our secure Vault for dormant accounts, which comes with a fee but provides significant benefits. Users who do not engage in transactions such as buying, selling, or withdrawing will have their coins moved to the Vault. However, they can easily opt out by performing any transaction at least once a month, even something as small as withdrawing a single satoshi.
2What is my Vault address?
Every Bitaroo account comes with its own unique Bitcoin Vault address. You can find your Vault address, along with your transactions and balance, in the app or web platform under the 'Vault' section and clicking on 'View on the blockchain.' You can also review this address using any bitcoin blockchain explorer.
3How are Vault fees calculated?
The Vault fee is calculated daily based on the amount of bitcoin your hold in the Vault. It is debited only once the Vault Unlock has been processed. Users can check their accumulated Vault fees on the web platform or app under the 'Vault' section.
