Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong has responded to backlash after UK regulators pulled the firm’s “Everything Is Fine” TV ad, which highlighted issues like inflation and housing costs through satirical messaging. While critics claimed it damaged the UK's international image, Armstrong defended the campaign, arguing that it was meant to provoke thought around how Bitcoin could improve broken financial systems.
The ad — which contrasted cheerful music with scenes of economic frustration — has gone viral online, sparking debate about free speech, Bitcoin advocacy, and financial inequality. Armstrong insists the message wasn’t anti-UK but rather pro-Bitcoin, reflecting a growing cultural clash between traditional financial institutions and decentralised alternatives.
